OSI (The Open Source Initiative)
The Open Source Initiative (OSI) is a California 501(c)3 corporation, founded in 1998. The OSI are the stewards of the Open Source Definition (OSD) and the community-recognized body for reviewing and approving licenses as OSD-conformant.
The OSI is actively involved in Open Source community-building and education. OSI Board members frequently travel the world to attend Open Source conferences and events, meet with open source developers and users, and to discuss with executives from the public and private sectors about how Open Source technologies, licenses, and models of development can provide economic and strategic advantages.
The Free Software Foundation
The Free Software Foundation (FSF), established in 1985, is dedicated to promoting computer users' rights to use, study, copy, modify, and redistribute computer programs. The FSF promotes the development and use of free software, particularly the GNU operating system, used widely in its GNU/Linux variant. The FSF is also responsible for maintaining and developing the GNU licenses.
Open Source Lab at Oregon State University (OSU-OSL)
The Open Source Lab facilitates open source communities and the development and distribution of Open Source Software (OSS). It accomplishes this through hosting projects and developing software. It also sponsors conferences, notably the GOSCON conference focused on OS adoption in the public sector.
The Open Source Software Institute at the University of Mississippi (OSSI)
OSSI is a nonprofit organization comprised of corporate, government and academic representatives whose mission is to promote the development and implementation of open-source software solutions within Federal and state government agencies and academic entities.
Open Solutions Alliance
The Open Solutions Alliance consists of leading companies dedicated to making enterprise-class open software solutions work together. It assists customers to put open solutions to work by enabling application integration, certifying quality solutions, and promoting cooperation among open solutions developers. Membership is open to organizations that provide high-quality, business-ready open solutions.

Open Bar is a not-for-profit organization founded with the goals of (a) developing clear information about the legal rights and responsibilities of software developers, legal professionals and users of software in the emerging arena of open source/free software; and (B) educating software developers, legal professionals and the general public about the issues, rights and responsibilities associated with the development, use and distribution of open source/free software
